AAADM Automatic Doors

AAADM automatic door inspection & repair

Automatic sliding and swing doors need an annual safety inspection by an AAADM-certified inspector. HPDS is certified to inspect, repair and maintain them.

Safe, compliant, always working

Automatic doors are high-traffic, safety-critical equipment — and at an entrance or exit they're part of your building's life safety and means of egress. There are two safety standards: ANSI/BHMA A156.10 covers full-energy doors that open automatically on approach, and A156.19 covers low-energy and power-assist (push-plate) operators. Both call for a safety inspection at least annually — and more often for high-traffic sites like hospitals, retailers and hotels — by an AAADM-certified inspector.

HPDS repairs and maintains automatic sliding doors, swing operators and ADA door openers, and provides the certified annual inspection — with a dated AAADM label per door — that keeps your entrances safe and your liability down.

Your responsibilities

What AAADM compliance requires of you

As the building owner you're responsible for keeping automatic doors safe. Here's the short version — and the part we handle.

  • Annual inspection by an AAADM-certified inspector against the ANSI/BHMA A156.10 / A156.19 safety standards.
  • A daily safety check — a quick walk-and-observe of each door's sensors and operation.
  • Keep required safety signage and decals in place and legible.
  • Keep sensor zones and the door path clear, with mats and sensors working.
  • Take any unsafe door out of service — secure it or switch to manual — until repaired.
  • Maintain the equipment per the manufacturer's instructions.
We take the professional part off your plate: the certified annual inspection, the AAADM certificate, and the repairs — part of HPDS Compliance. You do the quick daily check and keep the approach clear, and we'll show your team how.General summary of common requirements, not legal advice — your AHJ and the adopted codes govern.
FAQ

Common questions

What is AAADM certification?
AAADM (American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers) certifies inspectors to evaluate automatic pedestrian doors against the ANSI/BHMA A156.10 (full-energy) and A156.19 (low-energy / power-assist) safety standards. AAADM certifies the inspector, not the door — and using a certified inspector protects building owners and visitors.
How often should automatic doors be inspected?
At least annually by an AAADM-certified inspector — and more frequently for high-traffic environments such as hospitals, retail and hotels.
What automatic doors do you service?
Automatic sliding doors, swing-door operators, and ADA/handicap door openers — repair, maintenance, inspection and new installation.
Can you set up recurring inspections?
Yes. Many clients fold AAADM inspections into an annual compliance program alongside their fire-door testing.
